PHOENICIA, Byblos, Commodus, (A.D. 177-192), AE 23 (7.88 g), obv. laureate head of Commodus right, around **[AVT] M AV KOMMOD[ON EVT]*, rev. Isis Pharia standing right on raft, holding billowing sail with both hands, around **IEPAC BYBLOY*, (BMC 23, RPC IV 6774, SNG Cop 139, Rouvier 686, Mionnet Supp. VIII, 71). Deep chocolate toning, uneven flan, nearly very fine and rare.

Isis Pharia - the Lighthouse Goddess, is depicted here to indicate her importance to Phoenician maritime traditions.
