JULIUS CAESAR, (died 44 B.C.), silver denarius, issued April 44 B.C., Rome mint, (3.45 g), obv. wreathed and veiled head of Caesar to right, lituus below chin, apex behind, around CAESAR [P]ARENS PATRIAE, rev. C COSSVTIVS and MARIDIANVS arranged in form of cross, A-A-A-F F in the angles, (S.1422, RRC 480/19, CRI 112, RSC 8). Deep old cabinet toning, mildly porous surface and slightly off centre otherwise good very fine and rare.
