MARK ANTONY, (32-31 B.C.), silver denarius, mint moving with Mark Antony, (3.39 g), obv. praetorian galley to right with rowers etc., around legends ANT AV[G] III VIR. R.P.C., rev. legionary eagle between two standards, LEG XVII CLASSICAE below, (S.1479, Cr.544/10, Syd.1238, C. Mark Antony 50). Toned, slight scratch on obverse and slightly off centred, otherwise nearly very fine and an unusual variation on the XVII legion.

The Classicae legion had important naval duties in Antony's forces.
