HOSTILIAN, (A.D. 251), AE sestertius, Rome mint, (19.46 g), issued 250-1, obv. bare headed bust of Hostilian to right, around the legend C VALENS HOSTIL MES QVINTVS N C, rev. Hostilian in military attire standing to left, holding standard and resting on spear, around PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS, around, S C across, (S.9574, RIC 216a, C.35). Squarish flan, however a fine bust with a fine dark olive-green patina, very fine and rare in this condition, with collector's ticket.
