PAIR TO DOW: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 2-Lieut. H.W.Brough. A.I.F. Both medals impressed. Extremely fine.

Together with various photos including one of Newington College 1st Football Team in 1910 featuring H.W.Brough, also colour photos of his grave, most enlarged and other photos. Also copies of birth certificate and various newspaper items and other selections from journals and a unit history.

Herbert William Borough, architect, age 23, born at West Maitland, NSW; father, Reverend Anthony Watson Brough who in 1920s was serving with the London Mission in Erode, Coimbator District, South India; Enl.23Apr1915 at Light Horse Depot, Liverpool, NSW with previous service of 6-9 months with Senior Cadets; Emb.07Jun1915; TOS 1st LHR, his brother's regiment at Gallipoli; commissioned 2/Lt 27Mar1916; WIA 01May1917 with 105 Bty 5FAB at France, shrapnel wound compound fracture left thigh and DOW; buried at Bapaume Communal Cemetery; entitled to 1914-15 Star which was posted to his father in South India and receipt was acknowledged.
