ANASTASIUS I, (491-518), gold solidus, issue of 491-498, 6th officina, Constantinople mint, (4.46 g), obv. helmeted and cuirassed bust three-quarter face to right, holding spear and shield, around DN ANASTA SIVS PP AVC, rev. Angel standing facing holding long jewelled cross in right hand, around VICTORI A AVCCCS exergue CONOB, star in right field, (S.3, DOC 3f, MIBE 4a, T.73). As struck on a broad flan, good extremely fine and rare in this condition.
Ex Goldman Collection previously purchased from Munzhandlung Ritter GmbH of Dusseldorf in Germany in August 2011.
