CARACALLA, (A.D. 198-217), silver denarius, issued 199, Rome mint, (3.28 g), obv. laureate draped bust to right of Caracalla, around ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, rev. Caracalla standing left, holding Victory on globe and spear, captive seated before, around SEVERI P II AVG FIL, (S.6888, RIC 45, RSC 590413); another issued 204, Rome mint, (3.48 g), obv. laureate draped bust to right of Caracalla, around ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, rev. Victory advancing left with wreath, around VICT PART MAX, (S.6895, RIC 144b, RSC 658). Large slightly off centred flan for second coin, very fine - good very fine, both with collector's tickets, both scarce. (2)
Both with interesting reverses one acknowledging Caracalla as son of Severus and the other commemorating great victory over Parthia
