LUCILLA, (wife of Lucius Verus), (m.A.D.164, d.A.D. 182), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 166, (3.080 grams), obv. draped bust to right, around LVCILLA AVGVSTA, rev. around IVNONI LVCINAE, Juno Lucina enthroned to left, holding flower and child wrapped in swaddling clothes, (S.5486, RIC 770, RSC 36). Grey tone, nearly extremely fine and very scarce.

Juno Lucina (the bringer of light) is the goddess who helped newborn children see the light of day and was especially associated with childbirth in the Imperial family.
