ITALY, letter and separate hand-folded envelope addressed to Count Giovanni de Lazara, Padua, letter dated 2 October 1659, watermarked paper, written in Italian from Bagnorea (now Bagnoregio) roughly translated to be a character reference for someone named Frederic to be employed by the Count, impressed paper seal on envelope. Foxing on letter, otherwise fine.

The de Lazara family belonged to one of the oldest in the Paduan aristocracy.
