ITALY, Firenze (Florence) Republic, (c.1189-1532), a modern copy of a gold fiorino d'oro (florin), 21mm, (3.43 g), Sign of a scorpion in a shield, cf.type struck 1340, obv. Ornate lily of Florence + FLOR ENTIA, rev. Saint John the Baptist standing facing, holding cross-tipped scepter and shield with a scorpion within, around .S.IOHA NNES.B. (cf.Bernocchi 98; cf.MIR 3/1; cf.Biaggi 785 [symbol 112]; cf.Fr.275). Trace of mounting on edge, otherwise about extremely fine.
