Ex Dr V.J.A.Flynn Collection and previously Status International Sale 310 (lot 8147), also Noble Numismatics Sale 106 (lot 3423), coming from the Kelly J. Krizan, M.D. Collection and Classical Numismatic Group 53, 15 March 2000 (lot 1138).
An unusual coin combining a portrait of Maximinus I and a blundered obverse legend for Maximus as Caesar. It is seemingly the work of an engraver with little knowledge of Latin in a region where Greek was the lingua franca.
