SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochos VII Euergetes (Sidetes), (138-129 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, Antioch Mint, (16.85 g), obv. diademed head of Antiochos VII to right, with filleted border around, rev. Athena standing to l., holding Nike, spear and shield, to left in field near laurel wreath. **DI* monogram, over A, to right of figure but to left of legend AI (engraved over the letter O), to left, **BASILEWS* ANTIOXOY, to left **EUER GETOU*, all within laurel wreath, (cf.S.7092, SC 2061.4h/c [p.364 interesting overstrike], Kessab hoard 77 [30.77, p.97, Pl.34], cf.SMA Newell No. 286 [p.75], cf.BMC 27 [p.71], cf.BN 1133 [p.148], cf.SNG Israel I,(Spaer) 1860 [p.252, PL.121]). Nearly extremely fine and very rare.

The Kessab Hoard (1952) in Tresors Du Levant, Anciens et Nouveaux by Henri Seyrig (1973), Hoard No.30 has 1 specimen of this variety (p.97) and seems to be the only published example.
