OCTAVIAN AND JULIUS CAESAR, (assassinated 44 B.C.), AE dupondius, South Italy mint (possibly Puteoli), struck 38 B.C., (18.17 g), obv. head of Octavian to right, around [CAESAR] DIVI.F, rev. wreathed head of Julius Caesar to right, around DIV[OS] IVLI[VS], (S.1569, RPC 620, Cr.535/1, CRI 308). Toned, field damage, nearly fine and rare.

Ex Dr. V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3405).
