TIBERIUS, (A.D. 14-37), silver denarius, Lugdunum mint, issued A.D. 14-37, (3.73 g), obv. laureate head of Tiberius to right, around TI CAESAR DIVI AVG F AVGVSTVS, rev. PONTIF MAXIM, Livia seated to right, with vertical sceptre and branch, (S.1763, RIC 30, RSC 16a, BMC 48, H.916 [304]). Well centred, good very fine and probably has once been mounted.
Ex Dr. V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from M.R.Roberts retail sale in packet described.
Of Biblical importance as the issue is often described as the Tribute Penny (Mark 12: 14-17).
