JULIA MAESA, grandmother of Elagabalus, (218-222 A.D.), silver denarius, Rome Mint, (3.11 g), obv. Bust draped to right of Julia Maesa, hair with sloping waves tied behind, IVLIA MAESA AVG around, rev. PVDICITIA around, Pudicitia seated to left, raising veil and holding sceptre, (S.7756, RIC 268, BMC 76-78, RSC 36); another, Rome Mint, (2.90 g), obv. Bust draped to right of Julia Maesa, hair with sloping waves tied behind, IVLIA MAESA AVG around, rev. SAECVLI FELICITAS around, Felicitas standing facing with head to left, sacrificing out of patera over lighted altar and holding long caduceus; in field to right a star, (S.7757, RIC 271, BMC 79-80, RSC 45). Good very fine. (2)

Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3834) and also coming from an old Hungarian collection.
