MAXIMUS I, (236-238 A.D.), silver denarius, Rome Mint, (3.20 g), obv. Bare head bust of Maximus to right draped and seen slightly from behind, MAXIMVS CAES GERM, rev. PRINC IVVENTVTIS around, Maximus in military dress, standing half left holding baton and transverse spear with point downwards; to right two standards, (S.8406, RIC 3, BMC 211-2, RSC 10). Some mint lustre, nearly uncirculated and very rare as such.

Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3847) and also coming from an old Hungarian collection.
