THRACE, Island off Thrace, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.26 g), obv. head of the young Dionysos wearing ivy wreath to right, rev. naked Herakles standing facing head to left, holding club and lion skin, around **HPAKLEOUS SWTHROS QASIWN*, to left in field monogram MH, (cf.S.1759, BMC 67-78, SNG Cop. 1049). Toned, scratches and slightly uneven flan, has been holed and plugged, very fine.
