TRIO TO DOW: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19, 18952 Pte J.G.Rolfe. Durh.L.I. All medals impressed.; also Memorial Plaque named to John George Rolfe. All mounted on khaki cloth backing in a timber and perspex display frame with Memorial Plaque, toned good very fine.
Note: There is a small plaque in the above frame with details of Pte Rolfe however some of the information is incorrect.
John George Rolfe, miner, age 26, born at Leadgate, County Durham, England; Enl.01Sep1914 at Consett, County Durham and to 11 Durham Light Infy, A Coy; DOW at 1 South African Gen Hosp 12Sep1916 GSW right shoulder and chest; Buried at Abbeville Communal Cemetery, France.
