CARACALLA AS CAESAR, (A.D. 198-217), silver denarius, issued 197-198, Laodicea mint, (2.69 g), obv. bare headed bust of Caracalla, draped to right, around M AVR ANTON CAES PONTIFI, rev. Spes walkling to left, holding flower and raising skirt, around SPEI PERPETVAE, (S.6889, RIC 16, RSC 597); another, issued 199-201, Laodicea mint, (3.15 g), obv. laureate draped bust to right of Caracalla, around ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, rev. Salus standing left holding sceptre entwined with snake, raising female figure who kneels before her, SAL GEN HUM around, (S.6883, RSC 558a, RIC 350) (illustrated); another, issued 213, Rome mint, (3.28 g), obv. laureate head right, around ANTONINVS PIVS AVG BRIT, rev. Mars advancing to left, holding spear and trophy, around MARTI PROPVGNATORI, (S.6819, RIC 223, RSC 150). Toned, good very fine. (3)
