MASONIC LODGE ATHOLE NO.752, Right Worshipful Master's jewel, 1903-4, in 15ct gold (approx 25.5g), with shield on ribbon and inscribed, 'Presented/To/Wor Bro/W.Blaikie/R.W.M/1903.4', the jewel is adorned with a 10pt diamond at the top and the central thistle features a blue sapphire. Extremely fine.

Lodge Athole No.752 S(cottish) C(onstitution) was located at Bundaberg, Queensland.

William Blaikie was born at Dalkeith, Scotland. He moved to Australia with his parents, arriving at Queensland in 1884. He then went to Bundaberg where he worked in a stationery business before opening his own business in about 1893. He traded as a stationer, tobacconist and newsagency in Bourbon Street, Bundaberg.

In addition to operating a business he was heavily involved in the music scene as he was a gifted musician and singer. In addition he was Treasurer of the Mutual Aid Lodge, M.U.I.O.O.F., on committees for the General Hospital, the School of Arts and the Race Club and Past Master of the Lodge Athole. He died on 12 June 1919 at the relatively young age of 50.
