COMMODUS, (A.D. 177-192), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 177, (2.68 g), obv. laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus to right, around M COMMO[DVS AN]TON AVG PIVS, rev. around TR P VIII IMP VI COS IIII P P, Salus standing left feeding snake arising from altar, holding sceptre in left hand, (S.5713, RIC 66, RSC 903). Lightly toned, extremely fine and scarce.
