AUSTRALIA, WWI Volunteered for Active Service Medically Unfit badge, reverse numbered 63085. Dark toned, good very fine.

Together with copy of page of issuing register which shows this badge issued to Thomas Victor Carter, 84 Flemington Rd, Parkville W, and with copy of Carter's attestation paper and other research.

Thomas Victor Carter was a 34 year-old applied art teacher living at 84 Flemington Rd, Parkville West, Victoria, when he applied to join the AIF on 20Nov1917. He was rejected for service as deemed unfit due to his physique - he was over 6ft tall but his chest size was only 29-31 « inches.
