FRANCE, Ministry of War Prisoner of War ID card for a captured German soldier, stamped for American Zone, for Serg. Heinrich Reinke, Aufk1.E.A67.7, captured at Mulhausen on 30.1.45 and interred at Depot de P.G.A. 189 Bayonne 19 Jul 1945, his pre-war profession is recorded as a writer along with various other information, all text in French, there is some text on the outside of the card but it is very faded; also included is a Luftwaffe-Flieger Divn Leutnant collar tab in bullion embroidered. Fine. (2)

Aufk1 was the Aufklarungsabteilung, the German Army's Scout Corps, 'The eyes and ears' of the Division, mainly Armoured Corps.

Depot de P.G.A. 189 Bayonne (Low Pyrenees) was in the 18th Region of Bordeaux.
