SCRIMSHAW, 19th century, sperm whale tooth engraved with an image of the whaling ship "Charles W. Morgan", engraved on reverse - New Bedford Mass, (115mm long). Very fine and of historical interest.

The Charles W. Morgan was built in 1841 and survives today as the oldest surviving merchant vessel and the only surviving wooden whaling ship from the 19th century American merchant fleet.
