INDONESIA, traditional Javanese kris, late 19th century, with hammered iron blade with raised bands of lighter material to give it texture, edges rough and not sharpened, a decorative bulbous silvered-copper disc separates the blade (33cm) from the handle of ivory intricately carved and 3-dimensional, the sheath is silvered and with a wooden locket/guard, one side of this with texture writing in what appears to be Chinese and English (?) (overall length in scabbard 53cm and without scabbard 45cm). Blade does not fit fully into scabbard, the scabbard with numerous dents, fine.
