MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.914 grams), Babylon mint, issued c.311-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, monogram MTP in wreath to left, MI below throne, in exergue **BASILEWS, ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6713, Price 3746, BMC 3746a-d, M.734, Armenak Hoard Nos. 136-7). Nearly very fine.
