TASMANIA, Whaling Advance Note, issued at Hobart Town, 28 Oct 1857, for two pounds, 'Three days after the Ship 'Catherine' has Sailed from Hobart Town, pay to Thomas Couch or Order, the Sum of 'two' pounds, provided he has Sailed in the above named Vessel, being an Advance on an intended Whaling Voyage as per Agreement with Askin Morrison Esq. Hobart Town, signed J.McPherson (?) Commander', signed on back of note 'Thomas Couch'. Housed in an old glazed picture frame, note with folds, creases, horizontal tear through note, piece missing from top right corner, fair and very rare.
