SAMARAI, British New Guinea, one pound, Burns, Philp & Company, Limited, payable at the Offices... (but in gold not stated), no serial number, unsigned and undated but circa 1906, imprint of W.E. Smith. Sydney, (Vort-Ronald 'Australian Shinplasters & Calabash Notes, 2nd edn p.29, see also Mark Freehill, NAA Journal Vol.1, 1985). Lightly stained, a minor hole, perforations, extremely fine and excessively rare if not unique.
