ATTICA, Aegina, (530-520 B.C.), silver stater, (11.674 grams), obv. smoothed shell sea turtle without row of dots down dorsal spine, rev. rough incuse square of undeveloped pattern, 'proto heavy collar' design, (S.1848 (£400), Asyut Group I, cf.424, BMC 7, cf.SNG Cop. 501, Selinus hoard 46-48 [same obvrse die]). Double struck on the obverse, otherwise very fine, toned and a very rare type of the earliest style reverse punch.

This is the first stage of development in the reverse punch style.
