CRETE, Gortyna, (2nd-1st century B.C.), silver drachm, (3.066 grams), obv. diademed head of Zeus to right, rev. naked male figure (Gortys) advancing to front, hand on shield, holding spear in left hand, around, around **GORYUNIWN, D* in exergue, (cf.S.3186, Sv.153 [p.176, cf.Pl.XVI, 12]). Heavily toned, otherwise very fine and rare.
