ELAGABALUS, (A.D. 218-222), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 221-2, (3.01 g), obv. laureate bust of Elagabalus draped to right, around IMP ANTONINVS PIVS AVG, rev. around SACERD DEI SOLIS ELAGAB, Elagabalus standing to right, sacrificing at altar, star to right, (S.7542, RIC 131, RSC 246); another, issued 218-219, (2.94 g), obv. laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, around [A]NTONINVS PIVS FEL [AVG], rev. quadriga right bearing conical Stone of Emesa, ornamented with eagle and shaded by four parasols, around SANCT DEO SOLI, [ELAGABAL] in exergue, (S.7545, RIC 195, RSC 268). Toned, nearly very fine - extremely fine and scarce. (2)
