SCOTLAND, James VI, (1567-1625), gold unite 38mm, (9.87 g), Ninth coinage, Edinburgh Mint; mm thistle, issue struck 1609-1625, obv. half-length crowned and armoured bust right, holding sword over shoulder in right hand, globus cruciger in left, rev. crowned coat-of-arms; shield within ornate frame; I R across field, (S.5464, . Burns 1 (fig. 987); SCBI 35 [Ashmolean & Hunterian], 1343). Nearly extremely fine, light golden tone, struck on a broad flan.
