STEPHEN, (1135-1154), silver penny, Watford type, Bury St. Edmunds Mint, issued 1136-1145, (1.38 g), obv. bust right, crowned and diademed, holding sceptre in right hand, +STIEFNE RE around, rev. GILEBERT: ON: ED: (Gilebert of Bury St. Edmunds), (S.1278, N.873, BMC i). Very fine and very rare with complete reverse legend.

Ex Mark E. Freehill Collection, from Noble Numismatics Sale 51 (lot 1180), previously from the Francis Elmore Jones Collection, purchased 1984.
