HENRY III, (1216-1272), silver penny, long cross issue, class 3b, issued 1248-1250, (1.43 g), rev. HVG/E 0N/IVE/LCE, Ilchester Mint, (S.1363, N.987). Round, attractive grey tone, as struck extremely fine and very rare.
Ex Mark E. Freehill Collection, from Noble Numismatics Sale 60 (lot 3615) and from the Richard Cyril Lockett collection and illustrated on supplementary plate 76 (row 8 no 4), Glendining's June 6-9 1955 (lot 1203 part) and with Dave Hess, Baton Rouge Louisiana envelope.
