FAUSTINA SENIOR, wife of Antoninus Pius, (died 141 A.D.), AE sestertius, (23.76 g), issued after AD 141, obv. DIVA FAVSTINA, draped bust of Faustina I to right, hair elaborately waved and piled in bun on top of head, rev. AETER-NITAS Aeternitas, standing left, holding globe surmounted by phoenix and leaning on column, to sides S C, (S.5222, C.7, RIC III 1693, BMC 1563). Dark green patina good very fine or better and scarce.
Ex Triton III, lot 1709 (part) and previously the Collection of Cornelius C. Vermeule III with ticket.
