GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, (21.44 g), issued 243-244, Rome mint, obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Victory standing left with shield & palm branch, captive at foot, around VICTORIA AETERNA, S C across, (S.8741, RIC 338a, C.354) (illustrated); another, issued 241, (16.69 g), rev. Apollo enthroned left, holding olive branch and resting arm on lyre, (S.8730, RIC 301a, C.240); another, issued 243-4, (20.65 g), rev. Securitas standing left, legs crossed, with sceptre, resting arm on column, (S.8740, RIC 335a, C.339). Toned, good fine - nearly very fine. (3)
