SILVER HUNTER POCKET WATCH, hallmarked for Birmingham 1883 by 'MS' (Max Steyerman), white dial with black Roman numerals and marked 'A.Ballentine/Sydney', ornate floral decoration on lid and back cover, lid with small shield with monogrammed initials, 'AKB', works cover inscribed in running script, 'A.Ballantine/Sydney'. Dial glass missing, a few toning spots on dial, not working, otherwise very fine.

Andrew Ballantine of 135 Princes Street, The Rocks, Sydney was a watch supplier. He was successful in tendering for supplying watches and clocks to the NSW Government and in 1886 to Great Northern Railway. Princes Street at The Rocks no longer exists as it was demolished to make way for the access roads to the Sydney Harbour Bridge completed in 1932.
