TORTOLA, issue of 1805-24, type III countermark, quarter-dollar, a cut segment of a Charles III eight reales (4.57g), obverse countermarked TIRTILA in relief with a shaped indent (Pr.13; KM.18). Coin worn, countermark nearly very fine.

Ex Mark E. Freehill Collection, from the Tankersley Collection (Baldwin Sale 18, Oct 1998, lot 26) and earlier ex Lingford Collection with Lingford's ticket stating AHB Colln bought Aug 48.
