SNUFF BOX, circular, in blackened tin, late 19th century (55mm dia, 24mm ht) top of lid embossed with uniformed bust of Admiral Lord Nelson left, bottom of box embossed within open wreath 'Conqueror/at/Aboukir/1 Augt 1798/Copenhagen/2 April 1801/Trafalgar/21 Oct 1808/where he/gloriously/fell', side of box with Greek key design. Very fine.

After the death of Admiral Nelson, trinkets for gentlemen were produced as a way for men to demonstrate their admiration and respect for Nelson.
