ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.520 B.C.), silver stater, (7.93 g) on broad thin flan, obv. ear of corn in high relief, to right MET, circled border with dots, rev. ear of corn incuse, lined incused border, (cf.S.235, Noe [NN&M 32] Class V, No.117, SNG Lloyd 303 [same dies]). Cut on edge of obverse, weak in places, very fine and rare, only two reported from these dies.
