ITALY, Lucania, Velia, (c.400-365 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.26 g), Period V, workshop of the Theta group, obv. head of Athena to left, wearing crested Athenian helmet with griffin, **Q* behind, rev. lion walking to right, **UELHTWN* in exergue, **F* above lion, (cf.S.454, Williams 263,IB [these dies, Obv.151, rev.203], SNG ANS1294). Toned, interesting minor obverse flaw on eye noted by Williams, otherwise fine, good metal and a scarce mint.
