GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 240, (2.72 g), obv. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, laureate draped bust to right of Gordian III, rev. P M TR P III COS P P, Gordian on horseback to left holding sceptre, (S.8678, RIC 81, RSC 234); another similar obverse, issued 241-243, (3.14 g), rev. AETERNITATI AVG, Sol standing left, raising hand and holding globe in left hand, (S.8672, RIC 111, RSC 39). Both lightly toned, very fine - nearly extremely fine. (2)
