GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, (17.65 g), issued 243-244, Rome mint, obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Pax advancing left, holding branch and long sceptre, around PAX AETERNA, S C across, (S.8760, RIC 319c, C.171). Has been cleaned, some surface pitting, good very fine and scarce.
