ANCIENT ROMAN SESTERTII OF ANTONINUS PIUS, (A.D. 138-161), including, (27.03 g), Rome mint, issued A.D. 138, obv. bare head of Antoninus Pius to right, around IMP T AELIVS CAE SAR ANTONINVS, rev. TRIB POT COS, PIE TAS to left and right, S C across field, Pietas standing left by altar holding incense, (S.4203, RIC 1083a, C.604) (illustrated); another, (21.79 g), rev. Italia seated on globe, holding cornucopiae and sceptre, (cf.S.4185, RIC 746a, C.464); another, (28.09 g), rev. Annona standing right, holding cornupiae and two grain ears over modius, prow at right, (S.4147, RIC 597, C.37); another, (26.32 g), rev. Salus seated to left, holding patera and feeding a snake from a round altar, (S.4171, cf.RIC 754 [dupondius], C.348); another, (25.41 g), rev. Antoninus, with radiate nimbus, standing left, holding branch and spear, (S.4167, RIC 765, C.765). Toning, fine - nearly very fine, some scarce. (5)
