QUEEN'S SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL 1899, (type 2 reverse with evidence of date removal), - five clasps - Cape Colony, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Wittebergen. 389 Trpr: R.Agar, Ceylon M.I. Impressed. A few small marks on obverse edge and in the field, otherwise nicely toned good very fine.

389 Trooper R.Agar medal and clasp entitlement confirmed on the medal roll for Ceylon Mounted Infantry, 1st Contingent.

The first contingent consisted of 125 officers and men. A second contingent of 103 was raised but peace was declared before they took to the field. The above medal was issued to Trooper Agar on 18May1901.
