PAIR TO LIGHT HORSE WIA AT GALLIPOLI: British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 216 Sjt R.O.Harris. 3/L.H.Rgt: A.I.F. on first medal, 216 Sjt R.O.Harris. 3 L.H.R. A.I.F. on second medal. Both medals impressed. Toned, good very fine.

Together with Wounded Stripe (no backing plate); Overseas Service Chevrons (red and 4 blue); Soldier's Pay Book named to Robert Oxenberry Harris; also items presumably souvenired by Harris, namely USA Infantry Company I metal collar badge; Germany WWI single shoulder boards for 51 Infantry Regiment and 162 Infantry Regiment; Great Britain, Queen Victoria 60th Jubilee celluloid and metal badge.

Entitled to 1914-15 Star.

Robert Oxenberry Harris, farmer, age 21, born at St Mawes, Cornwall, United Kingdom; Enl.24Aug1914 at Morphetville, Sth Aust, with previous service of 8 months in 24LHR and 2 years with HMS Worcester Nautical Training College; to Sgt 01Sep1914; Emb.22Oct1914 with 3LHR; to Gallipoli 09May1915; WIA 14May1915 left forearm at Monash Valley, remained on duty and sent to reinforce Infantry holding at Quinn's Post and then to Pope's Hill; sick with gastritis and inflamed stomach and evacuated to Mudros 06Jul1915 and then to UK via Hospital Ship St George 16Sep1915; rejoined unit 26Jan1916; to 3Div Arty at Tel El Kebir, Egypt 05May1916; ops in France and Flanders with 113Bty, 13FAB from 31Mar1917; WIA 12Aug1917 shrapnel to head near Ypres then to Field Ambulance; rejoined unit 27Aug1917; RTA 03Dec1918 for Special Leave; Disemb.27Jan1919 at Adelaide; Disch.28Mar1919.
