James Joseph Thomson, draftsman, age 26, born at Collingwood, Vic; Enl.07Jul1915 at Melbourne, Vic, with 5 years in Senior Cadets; to School Sgt 18Nov1915; to 2/Lt 06Mar1916; Emb.16Dec1916; to France 29Apr1917; to Lieutenant 15Jul1917; WIA 16Oct1917 GSW to left thigh and buttock, France; rejoined unit 30May1918; WIA 29Sep1918 GSW leg and arm, France, during the battalion's advance to the attack on enemy lines near Le Catalet and it was evident that his leg would require amputation; DOW 29Sep1918 after his leg was amputated; Buried at Tincourt New British Cemetery near Peronne, France.
