TRENCH ART, rose and leaf decorated brass German field canon artillery shell casing, base marked, 'St/G/149/Juli/1917/67%Cu/HL/25'. Some light oxidation, edge bumps and a small split at open end, otherwise very good.
Base markings, St (strengthened case); G (?); 149 (lot no.); Juli/1917 (July 1917 'date of manufacture'); 67%Cu (brass content indicator); HL (Haniel Luege of Dusseldorf, Germany); 25 (inspection mark).
