MOGUL HELMET, 18th century, constructed of steel in three sections with each section joined by chain mail, with a long, heavy chain mail curtain that encircles the base, and with a pull down heavy metal crescent-shaped plate to guard the nose. Oxidation due to age, a few links missing from chain mail, otherwise fine.

Tag with helmet reads:- 'Helmet taken at Siege of Seringapatam. Worn by Mogul heavy cavalry (Re Hyder Ali Khan & Tippoo Sahib) (1750). Re - Indian Armour, Lord Egerton (of) Tatton.'
