SICILY, Syracuse, Second Democracy, (c.466-405 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.24 g), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer holding kentron in right hand and reins in both hands, above Nike flying right crowning horses, rev. **SU*R**AKOSI ON* around to right, head of Arethusa to right, hair in ornamented sakkos, four dolphins clockwise around, (cf.S.914, Boehringer Series XX 644 [obverse 327/reverse 443, SNG ANS 209 [same dies], BMC 113 [same dies]). Attractively toned, good very fine, has been overstruck, rare.
